Cavatorta, Ana Laura

Ana Laura Cavatorta is a Biochemist, graduated from the Faculty of Biochemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (FCByF) of the National University of Rosario; she completed her doctorate at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of Rosario (IBR) of the same Faculty, under the direction of Dr. Daniela Gardiol. She carried out research stays at the International Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Trieste, Italy; and at Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of São Paulo, Brazil. She is currently a Researcher at CONICET, and an Associate Researcher in the Oncogenic Virus Group at IBR. She is a professor of Virology at the FCByF. Her line of research consists in the study of emerging viruses of regional importance, such as the Hepatitis E Virus: its pathogenesis mechanisms and the impact of its infections under a Global Health approach. Her main interest consists in the development of multidisciplinary projects aimed at strengthening clinical practices, one of the premises of translational research. She is currently the Vice Director of the Translational Research Unit of Rosario (UNITRO) belonging to the Hospital-School Provincial del Centenario.

She is director of the project: Hepatitis E, an emerging zoonosis with a growing impact on health: Analysis of risk factors associated with the dynamics of viral infection under a “one health approach”.
