About Rosario

Rosario is located in the central-east part of Argentina, in the province of Santa Fe. It is located 300 km (185 mi) northwest of Buenos Aires, on the western shore of the Paraná River. Rosario is the third most populous city in the country with a growing and important metropolitan area which has an estimated population of 1,300,605. One of its main attractions includes the neoclassical architecture that has been retained over the centuries in hundreds of residences, houses and public buildings. Rosario is located at the heart of the major industrial and agricultural corridor in Argentina. The city has a major railroad terminal and is the shipping center for northeastern Argentina. About 80% of the agricultural and oil exportation from Argentina is shipped from Rosario. Exports include wheat, flour, hay, linseed and other vegetable oils, corn, sugar, lumber, meat, hides, and wool. Manufactures include flour, sugar, meat products, and other food items. The city hosts an intense cultural activity and it has recently become an attractive city for cultural tourism.
