Equipment

More than equipments

The IBR conducts research in the fields of biomedicine, microbiology, and plant biology. To pursue their lines of work, research groups employ state-of-the-art techniques in biochemistry, molecular biology, cellular biology, and structural biology.

The Institute is equipped with cutting-edge equipment applicable to the mentioned areas, including two confocal microscopes, a gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (GC-MS) and a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometer (LC-MS), an Orbitrap mass spectrometer, a protein crystallization room equipped with a robot for dispensing nano-volumes of protein, and two NMR spectrometers operating at 600 and 700 MHz, with the latter being the highest field strength instrument in our country.

Additionally, the Institute possesses multiple analytical capabilities, such as low-resolution spectroscopies (absorption, stopped-flow, flow cytometry), chromatography systems for protein and small compound purification, and bioimaging tools. The preservation and continuity of assays are ensured by 15 -80°C freezers.

These instruments are operated by highly skilled scientists and technicians with expertise in the latest worldwide applications. The equipment and infrastructure of IBR-CONICET not only support the Institute’s research endeavors but also provide services to the academic and socio-productive sectors of our country and Latin America.
